How long have you been volunteering in the community?

I have been volunteering in the community for 35 years. I have been a member and Board of Director for Mid San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce and a Chairman of Special Task Force on Business Retention in 1993 while serving on various committees of the chamber. I was Chairman of the Board of Los Angeles Valley College Foundation from 2001-03, and a Board Member from 2004-present. I was Chairman of Business Development Committee in 2010. I have also served on San Fernando Valley Business & Advisory Commission: Assembly member Robert M. Hertzberg 2001-03, Assembly member Lloyd Levine 2004-present.

I have been a Board member of The Valley Economic Alliance (TVEA) from 2006 to the present. I am an active member of the Sherman Oaks, Northridge, Encino, West Valley Warner Center, Granada Hills, Canoga Park-West Hills and Chatsworth-Porter Ranch Chambers of Commerce.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I have been President and majority shareholder of Mike’s Roofing Service Co., Inc. since 1972. Mike’s Roofing is a full-service company for new and replacement roofing for both residential and commercial, repairs and ancillary services. In the course of the history of the company, numerous professional, industry and community service Awards and Citations have been received.

After 30 years as a roofing contractor, I received my General Contractor’s license (B-1) and started my building company. I then partnered with California Roofing Association as a professional statewide association for industry contractors. I also became a boardmember at Southern California Roofing Contractors Association in 1996 dealing with unique regional challenges.

I received the Excellence In Business Award from Valley Industrial Commerce Association in 2002. I won the Los Angeles Times: Readers Choice Award Winner Best of Southern California in 2011, along with the Daily News: Readers Choice Award Winner Best of Southern California from 2012 to 2018.

What is one of your Passion Projects that you are working on?

My passion projects are the ones which include volunteerism, philanthropy and civic responsibility.

Why do you continue to be a member of The Valley Economic Alliance?

I am a member of TVEA because the organization is a common voice on local and state issues. TVEA is a resource for the entire San Fernando Valley community regarding employment, education, training, and communications.
