How long have you been volunteering in the community?

I have been a community volunteer for over 9 years, individually working on various projects.

How long have you been volunteering for The Valley Economic Alliance?

I met Kenn Phillips of The Valley Economic Alliance (TVEA) in 2010, and became an active volunteer member one year later.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Native of Toronto, Canada my family migrated to the Valley when I was entering the 8th grade. From a young age I valued my parents hard work and witnessed the challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur.  Being given the opportunity to work from a young age, I was fortunate to enhance my academic accomplishments by simultaneously building a professional career.

In July of 2013 I married David Madarian. We enjoy spending time with our family, especially taking our fathers out fishing and raising our nephews and nieces.

What is one of your Passion Projects that you are working on?

About 10 years ago my grandmother, Peggy Altounian, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. It is devastating, and many families much like ours do not know how to deal with it. Further, it is increasingly difficult to find them a safe home. This is why, along with leaders in the Armenian Community, I am currently working on plans to open an aging home specializing in Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care.

Why do you continue to be a member of The Valley Economic Alliance?

After witnessing TVEA’s community footprint, outreach, and the leadership of Kenn Phillips, Dr. Sean Younai and I decided that becoming members of TVEA was fundamental for our business.  TVEA has helped our business grow with the right referral sources, introduced us to key players in the community, and helped advocate on our behalf when needed.
