Home Again L.A. assists families experiencing homelessness gain independence by transitioning into permanent housing and employment with the support of our community. Home Again L.A. helps people like Rachel:
When my husband passed away earlier this year due to COVID I had no idea if I could survive. I lost my job and eventually couldn’t afford my apartment anymore. I tried to find a job that paid me enough to help make ends meet but it was difficult. All this pressure and sadness clouded my life until I looked over at my two daughters who needed me… needed me to be strong. I eventually reached out to Home Again L.A. The local school district referred me and after meeting with the staff at Home Again L.A. I knew I was in a safe place with someone who I didn’t know for more than a day, truly cared about me and wanted me to be successful. Home Again L.A. helped me pay for my rental arrears and eventually helped me relocate into an apartment that I could afford. They made me feel like family and helped me believe in myself. I am home again.
“On behalf of the entire Home Again L.A. team I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the Valley Economic Alliance for the honor,” said Albert Hernandez, CEO of Home Again LA. “Home Again L.A. has been a staple in our region for 13 years; we are here to serve our region’s unhoused and at-risk of homelessness population. For 13 years we’ve assessed and responded to the needs of the community. Unfortunately, the need continues to be high and in recent years more than normal due to the pandemic. We are doing our best to continue to bring hope to the unhoused. Now more than ever organizations like Home Again L.A. are needed so we can provide resources that lead to employment, financial and housing stability. We are beyond thankful for this award… this award inspires our staff and board to continue to find solutions to our homeless crisis while serving as a beacon of hope for families who reach out to us for assistance.”
Over the years, Valley of the Stars has recognized and celebrated exemplary businesses, people, and organizations who positively impact and contribute to the economic vitality of the Valley with icons like Bob Hope, Dick Clark, Betty White and Sally Field.
This annual fundraiser generates critical funds that support regional business assistance and workforce development programs. These programs are vital for ensuring a strong local economy, and are responsible for attracting new businesses, driving tourism and improving the quality of life of the people of our region.
