Olympic Gold Medalist to Receive Sports Award
at 26th Annual Valley of the Stars Gala
Sherman Oaks, California—Former USC Trojan Olympic great Quincy Watts will receive the Sports Award at The Valley Economic Alliance (The Alliance) 26th Annual Valley of the Stars Awards Gala presented by Bechtel Infrastructure Corporation, April 25, 2024, 5:30-8:30 p.m. (PST) at Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City located at 555 Universal Hollywood Dr, Universal City, CA 91608.
The Sports Award is given to an athlete who contributes to the vitality of the Valley.
A graduate and former coach Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Quincy Watts has coached at Cal State Northridge, Harvard-Westlake High, and various individual athletes at the U.S. and local level. He is currently the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at USC. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Watts won the gold medal in the 400 meters as well as the 4×400-meter relay. His monumental success in both his athletic and coaching career inspires others to achieve greatness as a coach and mentor.
Watts has also been known to participate in charity events and fundraisers aimed at supporting youth sports programs, whether through donations, appearances, or advocacy efforts. By leveraging his platform and influence, he continues to make a positive impact on the lives of young athletes and the communities they belong to.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this prestigious sports award,” says Watts. “It’s a testament to the dedication, passion, and perseverance of not just myself, but the coaches, student-athletes, mentors, parents, and supporters who have been invaluable on my journey to impact and change lives. On this path, the two most important words I live by are ‘Thank you.’”
“Quincy’s commitment to excellence both on and off the track is truly commendable,” says Sonya Blake, CEO and President of The Alliance. “His unwavering dedication to youth sports inspires us all to reach for greatness. We congratulate Quincy on this well-deserved recognition!”
