The Valley Economic Alliance is Among First to Host Newly-Elected Mayor Karen Bass and Supervisor Lindsey Horvath at Regional Summit

Sherman Oaks, California –  The Valley Economic Alliance (The Alliance) presents the Our Region, Our Future Summit on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 8:00 am – 2:00 pm (PT) at The Orchard Conference Center at CSUN. Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins are all featured presenters.

This will be one of Supervisor Horvath’s and Mayor Bass’s first major appearances in the Valley since elected. They, along with Ms. Wiggins, are expected to present their community and economic development visions for the Valley.

In addition, this half-day program will convene forward-thinking political, business, and community leaders to connect and collaborate on key topics that will shape the future of the Valley. The program is designed to move the region forward through real estate, business attraction, and tourism, among other critical topics of regional development. Attendees will enjoy dynamic keynote presentations, a plenary session, and premier networking opportunities with city planning leaders. A networking breakfast and lunch are included in the registration.

“We are starting off the new year and these new administrations by focusing attention on opportunities for growth in the Valley,” said The Alliance CEO and President Sonya Blake, who also serves on Mayor Bass’s transition team. “The Alliance is the ideal convener to drive regional development in northern Los Angeles County and everyone is invited to sit at the table with key decision-makers as regional planning that will impact the Valley gets under way.”

Dr. Erika Beck, president of California State University Northridge, and Lois Klavir, vice president of JPMorgan Chase, will co-chair the event. In addition to the keynote presentations, sessions include meet-and-greet conversations with city planning and building and safety leaders from Burbank, Calabasas, Glendale, Los Angeles, and San Fernando as well as an expert panel on activating vacant retail and office space through transformative commercial real estate solutions for the Valley.

Among others, featured speakers include:

  • Fred Gaines, founding and managing partner, Gaines & Stacey LLP
  • Kim Brewer, senior vice president, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield
