VAN NUYS AIRPORT AVIATION CAREER DAY A SOARING SUCCESS
750+ Local High School Students Explore Aviation Careers
VAN NUYS, CA – Van Nuys Airport, in collaboration with The Valley Economic Alliance, hosted over 750 high school students from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) on November 1, 2023, for an interactive Aviation Career Day. The event, which took place at Van Nuys Airport, provided a unique and immersive opportunity for students to explore careers within the aviation industry.
The three-hour program featured a variety of activities designed to engage the next generation of aviation professionals. Students had the opportunity to interact with aviation experts, including pilots, mechanics, and various aviation support personnel, who shared valuable insights and experiences. As part of the event, students also took a bus tour around the airport, providing them with a close-up view of notable aircraft including the renowned firefighting aircraft, Super Scoopers.
“By opening students’ minds to the boundless opportunities within the aviation industry, we are not only nurturing their career path but also cultivating a brighter future for our region,” said Sonya Blake, President and CEO of The Valley Economic Alliance. “The Alliance is proud to partner with Van Nuys Airport to educate and inspire so many young minds about the countless aviation careers that await them.”
This event was made possible through a partnership between the Van Nuys Airport and The Valley Economic Alliance, with support from 20 aviation companies.
