Hospital Executives Meet with OSHPD and Economic & Workforce Development Representatives to Discuss Re-Development Project Issues

Sherman Oaks, CA – The Hospital Executive Dialogue, hosted by The Sherman Oaks Hospital, and sponsored by The Valley Economic Alliance and Regional Higher Learning Consortium, took place on Friday, March 28, 2014.

Executives from hospitals from the greater San Fernando Valley were given an opportunity to have a constructive conversation with City of Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department, General Manager, Jan Perry and Gordon Oakley, Division Chief, Facilities Development Department of the Los Angeles Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).

“Each of the hospitals are looking for the most effective and affordable OSHPD facilities road maps so that we can be successful with our re-development projects,” said Bochki Park, CEO of Sherman Oaks & Encino Hospital Medical Centers and welcomed near 40 attendees. Prior to the dialogue, attendees took a tour of the New Amputation Prevention Center at the Sherman Oaks Hospital, which handles amputation and podiatric services, diagnosis and treatments.

Moderated by Roland Santos, Chief Nursing Officer, Sherman Oaks Hospital, hospitals and architects directly discussed issues and delays they have been experiencing with re-development projects. Oakley suggested tips on reducing time and expense for projects and provided contact information of OSHPD facilities development divisions for hospital staff to communicate with.

“It was wonderful to share in the discussion with hospital executives regarding the San Fernando Valley’s hospital growth and investment. I look forward to working with The Valley Economic Alliance to offer a well trained workforce to meet the growing needs of our healthcare partners,” said Jan Perry, General Manager, Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department.

Participating hospitals and companies included Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, Mission Community Hospital, Sherman Oaks Hospital, Encino Hospital Medical Center, Department of Nursing, CSU, Northridge, REM Architects, DLR Group, Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce and Pro Health Occupational Medical Group.

The next event in the dialogue series is the Hospital Human Resources Dialogue set for Friday, April 17, 2014 from 7:30am-10:00am, at Los Angeles Valley College, Job Training Room. This dialogue is prior to the 2014 Career Fair and Health Expo, from 9:00am-1:00pm in the Monarch Square.
