“How to Avoid ADA Lawsuits” Workshop & Goodwill Southern California ADA Parking Lot Program Launch

Goodwill Southern California in partnership with The Valley Economic Alliance launched a new parking lot re-striping and signage program on May 24th to help businesses avoid costly American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations and lawsuits, and helping them becoming compliant. The event also included a presentation on “How to Avoid ADA Lawsuits” by attorney David Warren who specializes and advises on ADA lawsuits and how to reduce risks by taking action and becoming compliant.

In response to 90% of ADA lawsuits being parking lot related, Governor Jerry Brown signed a measure that gives businesses with less than 50 employee’s time to fix violations after they are pointed out, among other protections.

Goodwill Southern California presented information on its All-Access ADA Support team, which helps businesses make required fixes to their parking lots and prevent fines, lawsuits and facility shutdown at an affordable cost, while ensuring accessibility to customers. The program is offered to Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino County businesses.  “We know that business owners have a multitude of responsibilities and not enough hours in the day, said David LoPresti, Goodwill Southern California’s Senior Business Development Executive, “Our program gives business owners one less thing to worry about!”
