San Fernando’s Economic Vibrancy Shines During Official Visit by The Valley Economic Alliance

The City of San Fernando is a model of economic vibrancy, with growth fueled by its close collaboration with The Valley Economic Alliance. A key initiative currently underway is the development of the Downtown Master Plan, designed to revitalize the historic downtown area and position it for growth, prosperity, and tourism. As a task force member, Alliance President and CEO Sonya Kay Blake is actively involved in guiding this planning effort, ensuring that the community’s vision is at the forefront. “The City of San Fernando has been a great partner in our mission to advance economic development throughout the region. On October 16, 2024, The Valley Economic Alliance made an official visit to the City of San Fernando. Alliance Vice President Greg Martayan met with Mayor Celeste Rodríguez, City Manager Nick Kimball, Deputy City Manager Kanika Kith, and Senior City Officials to discuss ongoing efforts to foster economic resilience. Mayor Rodriguez led an immersive tour of San Fernando, showcasing the city’s dynamic landscape and revitalized downtown. The discussions underscored and spotlighted the city’s commitment to growth, public safety, and community engagement.

Part of the visit included the innovative Business and Community Resource Center. The Center provides extensive services available to local businesses and community members. The staff showcased their commitment to community growth, business support, and economic empowerment. The important programs designed to uplift entrepreneurs and residents are available to all. Mr. Martayan’s visit underscored the center’s important role in fostering a thriving, resilient community.

Vice President Martayan also met with the San Fernando Police Command Staff, where he received an in-depth tour of Police Headquarters and was briefed on regional operations. He commended the Department on their innovative use of technology to enhance public safety and strong commitment to community policing initiatives. These efforts are helping build trust and maintain a secure environment, ensuring the safety of San Fernando residents and businesses alike.

Meetings also took place with San Fernando Chamber of Commerce leadership, including Chamber President Natasha Madarian, where strategies were discussed to support local businesses and stimulate further growth. These discussions highlighted the vital role the business community plays in driving the city’s economic engine.

During the visit, Vice President Martayan engaged with corporate leaders, business owners, and local restaurateurs to discuss the City’s economic growth and The Alliance’s commitment to San Fernando. The meetings highlighted the contributions of restaurateurs and chefs to the city’s vibrant culinary and nightlife scene, which has become a destination for food lovers and a hub for new dining establishments. Among the businesses were Bodevi Wine, Aszkenazy Development, Papa Juan’s Restaurant, La Bella Pizza Trattoria Italiana (owned by Chef Antonio Marchese), Hanzo Sushi, Jim’s Western Wear, Concierge Autoworks, San Fernando Florist, Chula Chic, and many others.
