12 Dec Up-to-the Minute Tips for Social Media, E-Commerce Success
“Putting up a website is like being in a lake,” said Nick Cavarra, founder of SocialPunch Media to a room full of small business owners. Instead, “you need to be in a river – traveling with the current!” Cavarra gave two presentations on April 24 at the Spring Forward Mega Marketing Workshop powered by The Valley Economic Alliance (TVEA) and the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce.
Cavarra presented simple tips for targeting audiences and distributing content consistently. He also emphasized fresh, accessible information for mobile platforms. “Choose the channels where your customers are, and make sure you are found on all those channels!”
E-Newsletters and the responsive advantage of small businesses were the subject of Cavarra’s closing presentation. “Give people one thing to do,” he said, stressing the importance of simple, action oriented subject lines, and ongoing audience testing.
“The trick is to not spend much money, but make the sale,” said BizDrive founder Tracey DeLeeuw, who gave the third and middle presentation of the morning. All three were excellent, full of information attendees could consider and apply immediately.
DeLeeuw stressed that small service entrepreneurs were losing out to mid-size businesses just because they don’t have IT departments to automate and scale their methodology for quoting, estimating, reporting and invoicing. Third-party services such as BizDrive help service businesses become more efficient at selling online.
This free, full morning workshop was held at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, and Executive Director of the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce Vicki Nussbaum, and TVEA Vice President Kenn Phillips introduced the speakers and facilitated networking.
Greg Krikorian, President & CEO of TVEA, also spoke to the full room, emphasizing the vital work both organizations were doing to help local businesses. “We are all fighting to keep our Valley businesses thriving,” said Krikorian. “We want to make our region #1, and we are here to help you.”
